Andrew married Sarah Leonard February 8, 1859 in Livingston
County. She was born May 30, 1840 in PA and died November 5, 1937. She was the
daughter of Edmund Dexter and Elizabeth H. Remington Leonard. Andrew purchased a
farm in Newtown Township, Livingston County where the family lived for several
years. Andrew turned his attention to the mercantile business in 1869
with Mr. A. Gouty in a store building in New Michigan. This building was
moved in 1871 to Collins, now known as Manville. He operated this store for 17
or 18 years. He was a good businessman and met with marked success in his
endeavors and when he retired, turned the business over to his sons. He was well
known throughout Livingston County and had the confidence and respect of all
with whom he had come in contact either in business or social life. Andrew and Sarah moved to Streator about 1888 in the neighboring
county of LaSalle, where they remained until his death. Following Andrew's
death, Sarah lived most of the time with her son Wilder in Manville, Livingston
County where she died. They are both buried in Riverview Cemetery in
Streator, LaSalle County, IL. The children of Andrew J. Hoobler and Sarah Leonard are: Fannie Hoobler was born October 20, 1859 and died 1950 in Santa Monica, CA. She
married Milton Syphers in Santa Monica, CA. Ora Hoobler was born April 27, 1862 in Livingston County, IL
and died August 29, 1863 in Livingston County, IL. Wilder Hoobler was born May 17, 1864 in Newtown Township, Livingston County, IL
and died May 12, 1953 in Streator, LaSalle County, IL. He married Rachel Ellen
Snyder November 14, 1888. She was born December 25, 1866 and died March 11, 1930
in Manville, Livingston County, IL. Both are buried in Phillips Cemetery in
Livingston County, IL. Erastus Hoobler was born December 11, 1867 in Manville, Livingston County, IL
and died July 18, 1936 in Pontiac, Livingston County, IL. He married Johanna
(Jodie) Beach June 9, 1888. She was born October 3, 1870 and died March 27,
1968. Both are buried in Abbey Mausoleum, Pontiac, Livingston County, IL. |
