George Welcome Hoobler was born in Middleton Township, Wood County Ohio, September 7, 1836. His father, George W. Hoobler, was one of the very early settlers of Wood County. He came from Pennsylvania to Perrysburg in 1820, and for many years conducted a large cooperage business. He died in 1850, aged 57 years. George Welcome Hoobler married Miss Alvira E. Hale, of Urbana, Ohio, March 3, 1858. The four children:
